Camp 1: Thursday, June 20–Sunday, June 23, 2019

Camp 2: Wednesday, July 31–Sunday, August 4, 2019

Writer Camp is a laid-back mini-vacation with plenty of time for writing. No readings, no mandatory sessions, no schedules: you decide when it’s time to write, read, or nap in a hammock. Each participant also has the option of receiving detailed feedback from a Barrelhouse editor on their work.

Your registration fee includes lodging, all meals, a few group activities, plenty of time to write, and campfires every night.

Camp Basics

I’ve been to a number of writing conferences, and Barrelhouse Writer Camp was the best of the bunch. I wrote dozens of new pages, and the friends I made in these few short days will be in my life for years to come. I can’t wait for next summer.

Where do you want to write? Your private room, the big event hall, in a lounge chair by the creek, or in a handwoven hammock?

Writer Camp is hosted by the Godspeed Hostel in Port Matilda, PA, roughly 10 minutes outside State College.
